Here are my rules of Baseball Betting that you should live by:
1) Create a standard wagering unit and only bet 1 unit on each play, no matter how strong you feel about a play. This also helps you track your progress. If you bet 1 unit on a +159, your gain is 1.59 units.
2) Bet primarily underdogs. Don't take more than -130 unless it is a very good play. Home underdogs are the secret to winning since a majority of teams have winning home records. If you hit 50% of underdogs, you will be profitable.
3) Stay away from run lines in general. They will hurt you more than they will help you since teams are looking to win the game period, not win by 2 or more.
4) Don't bet in April. There are many teams that play better or worse than they should. It is the hardest month to cap by far.
5) Don't chase your picks, only bet on games that meet your criteria.
6) Starting pitchers are overrated. Unless they are elite or really bad, they are not noteworthy. Defense, bullpens, and offense are more important.
7) Don't bet against a good team trying to avoid a sweep at home.
8) Make predictions on where teams will end up in the standings and base your picks on that.
9) If you think the line should be worse than what is being offered, then the play has value to you.
